about

An extension of my work with processes on ...And His Own Devices, here with maximum transparency. I wanted to create an album that laid my sound design process bare, a sort of sequential act of creation where you can see the different things I do (or *could* do) to a sound once I record it. The first track is a short tenor guitar improvisation, and each subsequent track uses only the prior iteration as source material. I think the track titles speak for themselves as far as what was done. The final track is free to download. Use it as you wish - I'd love to see the "project" of sorts carried on!

released February 5, 2021

Evan Pincus plays guitar, operates the tape machine, tweaks knobs on an Alesis MIDIVerb, Montreal Assembly Count to Five and Sherman Filterbank, plays a Casio FZ-1, programs in Max/MSP, applies permanent marker and abrasive surface to compact disc, fiddles with the play & record buttons on a Sony HCD-NE3 combo CD/cassette player/recorder with a tape loop jammed in it... in that order.
